Recently I was reminded of the importance of spending time in the Bible and in the unmatched presence of our creator. I had just sat down to do some writing, but I didn’t really have anything to say. I knew I needed to write something, but the words just weren’t there, and I got frustrated.
I was just about to close my computer and give up for the day when I felt the Holy Spirit nudge my heart, it was like God was saying ‘yep you do that to me too’. Which got me thinking about all the times in my life I’ve pushed aside spending time with God thinking up excuse after excuse for why I’m too busy to spend even five minutes reading my Bible or seeking out His presence.
I don’t know about you but that hit me hard.
In that moment I was reminded of the words written by the prophet Isaiah so many years ago.
“But now, this is what the Lord, your Creator says, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel, ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!’” (Isaiah 43:1).
More often than not we push spending time with God to the back of our minds because we feel undeserving of His love and mercy, when what we should be doing is growing our relationship with the one who paid a debt we could never begin to understand.
Yet over and over He reminds us too not be afraid. He calls each of us by name and He understands what we are walking through at any given moment. That’s what I love about this verse, it is a reminder that we have been redeemed and called by name. We are the sons and daughters of God and that means something.
It is so incredible to realize that the creator of the universe wants to have a relationship with you! He is for you and not against you and He loves you with an everlasting love! What an incredible God we serve friends!
No matter what the season may be, always remember friends that you are so loved and seen. The God of the universe sees you and He calls you by name. You are loved!
