Wisdom Wednesday

Before we jump fully into the post today I want to stop and pose a question. What are you allowing to take full focus in your life? As you read through this post keep this question in mind.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2). What a powerful thought, do not be conformed to this world in other words don't change yourself to fit into the things of this world instead let the word of God transform your mind and heart.

I know in my own experience I have tried to fit in when all along God was calling me to be different, and that can be scary. We live in a culture that is constantly putting labels on us, telling us who to be and how to act. Yet we were created in the imago dei(the image of God) we were created to stand out and be different. Life would be so boring if we were all the same, each one of us has a purpose that is far greater then simply surviving through each day. We were made to THRIVE.

The other day I was watching my niece as she danced and sang along to the worship songs I had playing. I had this moment of awe as I watched her lift her little arms with the biggest smile on her face. To see the wonder and sweet spirit of a child worshiping the one who created them made my breath catch in my throat. I realized then that I had been letting my focus drift around instead of keeping my focus solely on my Creator. Her joy for worship quickly turned our living room into a worship party.

Watching her worship got me thinking about how important it is to fully focus on God and not let other distractions get in your way. Seeing the joy of a toddler worshiping and the joy I felt at seeing her do so got me thinking about how God must feel when He sees us on our knees in worship. Just think of the pride He must feel at seeing us fully focused and reliant upon Him.

"Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:2-5). It is so important to realign your focus solely unto the glory and grace of our Creator. Find your focus and strive to keep it on Him and the more you focus on Jesus the more your soul will long for nothing but Him.

So I'll ask you once again, What are you allowing to take full focus in your life?

As always remember you have a God-given uniqueness!

Shalom ~ Alianna
