Gratitude Break...

I don't know about you, but life for me has been crazy lately. More often than I'd like to admit I have found myself at a point where I shut down and push everyone away while I try to process on my own why I'm so overwhelmed. Just a heads up... this is not a healthy way to process the craziness of life. I know it, yet I'm human and find myself here from time to time.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest". - Matthew 11:28

When life takes a turn instead of pushing everyone away, cling to Jesus. Seek His face and allow Him to do what only He can do. Take a moment to praise Him for who He is! When you take a step back and remind yourself who our God is there is a shift that takes place. Something happens when you praise Him, no matter the season or the reason He loves you and He is for you not against you.

Something incredible happens when we take our focus off the things of this world and fix it back on the one that really matters. Putting all distractions aside and reminding ourselves who our God is. My dad calls this a gratitude break. Taking a step back and declaring the things you are grateful for and thanking God for who He is. It’ll change your whole attitude and mood in seconds trust me. When you begin to praise God for who He is and remind yourself of His goodness there is no room for those negative thoughts to take root.

Did you know it is impossible to be grateful and anxious at the same time. There was a study done years ago, where a group of individual’s brains where studied. Before they began to praise and express their gratitude to God you could actually see the anxiety and worry lighting up certain areas of the brain, but when they began to praise. Come on! When they began to praise, the anxiety was gone. The worry was gone. By reminding themselves of the goodness of God they reminded the devil he is not welcome. They reminded the devil that were the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and deliverance.

There is nothing that our God can't do. He is good and He is kind!

"Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David". - Isaiah 55:3

So when it feels like the world is caving in around you and you're overwhelmed by life take a step back and start thanking God for who He is. Speak out-loud the things you are thankful for. Remind yourself what our God has done for you and remind yourself who He is. There is power in the spoken word. Take that gratitude break and remember you are so loved!

Its okay to be different friends, and it is so important we take the time to remember who our God is and remind ourselves of His goodness and faithfulness in our lives!

Much love friends,

Alianna
