Dry Bones...

Have you ever read something and had to read it a few more times before it really sinks in? Just me? I'm pretty sure we have all been there at some point. I had a moment like this not to long ago. I've been reading through the Bible starting in Genesis and working my way to Revelations, something I try to do at least once a year. While reading through Ezekiel I found myself rereading numerous verses. I mean these are verses I have read before, but for some reason my brain was having a hard time grasping the words before me.

I want to read the passage together and then discuss it further. The passage is found in Ezekiel 37.

"'The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign ,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” ' (verses 1-3).

This start immediately grabbed my attention, drawing me into the story about to unfold. Let's keep reading.

"'Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord ! This is what the Sovereign says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the .’” ' (verses 4-6).

Dry bones listen to the word of the Lord! What an incredible statement right off the bat. Just wait till you hear what happened next!

" 'So I spoke this message, just as he told me. Suddenly as I spoke, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones of each body came together and attached themselves as complete skeletons. Then as I watched, muscles and flesh formed over the bones. Then skin formed to cover their bodies, but they still had no breath in them. '" (verses 7-8).

There was a rattling sound that filled the valley. And the bones began to rattle. At the word of the Lord, muscle and flesh covered the bones once again! Come on that is amazing!

"'Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.’” So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army.'" (verses 9-10).

Then breathe filled their lungs and back to life they came! What a God! Friend, I don't know about you but that takes my breath away. It stops me in my tracks and gets me thinking.

If the same God who causes muscles and flesh to re-grow on dry bones, and breaths breath back into the lungs of the dead and gone knows your name, don't you think He cares for you?! The same God who parted the Red Sea and brought His people across dry land, and made a giant fall before a teenager, and closed the mouths of lions to save one, loves you with an everlasting love.

Friend, you will never out run the love of God and the purpose He has for your life. Before you where formed in your mothers womb He knew you and He loved you.

I don't know what your day to day looks like or what giants you may be facing, but what I do know is the same God who can breathe life back into dry bones loves you and is for you. He loves you so much He willing went to the cross so that you could spend eternity forever with Him. What a God friends! Dry bones hear the word of the Lord! LIVE! Live and walk in the grace and love He has poured out on you.

Much love friends,

Alianna
