Hey friends I hope your are having a great week! It's so crazy the difference a short amount of time can make in our lives, if you told me a few years ago what my life would be like now I honestly don't think I would have believed you. That being said, I strongly believe that God uses the seasons we go through to stretch and grow us, along with our faith.
I know if you had told sixteen year old Alianna that I would be sitting at my computer six years later celebrating being almost six years cancer free I would have looked at you funny. I didn't even know I had cancer at the time, man did God use that season to grow and stretch me to go beyond and I mean way beyond my comfort zone. The difference and growth that can happen in a few years is crazy and at times amazing. Just like how a year or two can make a huge difference in your life, your example and the legacy you leave with others can in some ways change theirs.
I think C.S.Lewis said it perfectly,
"True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less."
I believe this statement applies to us all in the sense that when we live our lives for Christ and to make his name known, it no longer is about us, it becomes all about him. That means that our life and legacy point others to Him and show less of us.
I believe that sometimes the biggest difference we see happen in our lives throughout the years is the change from selfishness to humility. From fear to bravery, from sorrow to joy, and lastly from weakness to strength.Â
I love this verse found in Matthew 28:18-20,
"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
That should be the legacy we strive to leave. A legacy of radical faith and trust in a big God, we don't know how long we have to reach others, but one thing I do know is that our legacies with last beyond our lifetime and to generations to come. The question is what will your legacy be?
Much love friends,
Alianna
