Hi friends! Whether we realize it or not, our words carry so much power. I'm sure you've heard me say this a million times, but it is so true. Our words can either build others up or drag them down. My prayer is that as believers and people of faith, that our words would be a reflection of our Savior. That our words would be sweet like honey, and full of wisdom and hope. Much like scripture tells us in Proverbs 16:24,
"Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body."
With our words we can either build others up or we can break them down. The impact of the words we speak will last long after we are gone, yet we spew them out with little to no thought about how they are going to affect others around us.
There's an old saying, "sticks and stone will break my bones but words will never hurt me". What a lie. Scripture tells us that words have the power to bring life or death, each word we speak has the potential to either make someone better or to harm and cut deep within.Â
I am a "word nerd" so I love to look up the meaning of words that catch my attention, so naturally I looked up word.
Word means: a promise, declaration, demand or news.
It's the second word that I want you to catch, a declaration. The words we speak can be a declaration to others, it shows them how we see and feel about them all in one simple word. In a matter of seconds we can build the confidence of another or we could strip what confidence they have away.
Our words hold so much power it's hard to realize and wrap our minds around the fact that one simple word can cause so much pain or it could also bring joy. It got me thinking about what would happen if we lived our lives in such a way that we used our words to build others up and confidently share the gospel message with the world around us.
As I was reading I came across the word "zeal" and I want to share a little about this word with all of you.
Zeal: great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause.
Which then lead to the idea of living a life full of zeal in pursuing the heart of God and sharing the Gospel message with the rest of the world. What do you think would happen if we had a renewed zeal for the things of God and for reaching all people everywhere? I think the world would be a very different place.Â
All it takes to start a movement is for someone to stand up, be different and don't be ashamed for being different. It just takes one decision to stand up for what you believe and be a voice that is speaking life instead of death. A voice speaking out with a zeal for what they believe and a zeal to make a change.Â
I love what Colossians 3:16 says,
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
Much love friends,
Alianna
