Have you ever thought about the in between? What I mean by this is, have you ever thought about what happens between the I'm gonna do it and I did it. The in between moments are so much more than just the frustration of what we don't know and the longing for what we hope is to come.
God is with you in between...
God is not leaving you alone in that season, He has a plan even when you can't see it or when it doesn't add up to the plans you've made for yourself. God is with you in this season. He is with you in the in between. Let's read Genesis 32 together,
"So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me." -Genesis 32:24-26
Pay attention to how the passage continues friends,
"The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered. Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there." -Genesis 32:27-29
God blessed him there... Jacob was blessed in the in between. I think it is interesting to take note of the fact that the passage says that they wrestled until daybreak. Some translations say until the dawn. The dawn is the in between friends. Its not the night and its not the morning, its the between. Its the moment in the middle, the moment leading up to the morning that comes just as the night is losing its grip on the world. I think there are so many lessons that we can learn in the between moments of life. Not every season we walk through will be a mountain top or a deep dark valley. There are the in between moments that affect us as well.
It is in the in between that lessons can be learned that we cannot learn in the before or the after. Lessons that come from the in between.
It's not where we've come from, or where we're going necessarily. It is in the in between...
Even though we don't understand it or even see it God is there in between. It's during the in between we learn to walk different, talk different, and live different.
The in between will make you different.
