Salt not Sugar..

I had a conversation the other day that has stayed fresh in my mind since. We were talking about how hard it can be to get people to like us and how society tries to push us to be and act a certain way. It's sad how society tries so hard to make us all act and look the same. There is a certain look that is expected and pushed.

I wish it was different and I think that it can be different in the future. During the conversation I had a thought that I'd like to share with you.

Your job is not to get everyone to like you. Jesus said you are salt of the earth, not sugar...

I think that is a powerful thought. We are not the sugar of the earth. No, we are called to be the salt of the earth. Scripture tells us that we are to be like salt and light.

We were made to shine light in a dark world. To bring light into the shadow filled spaces. Thinking about being salt of the earth, it is important to remember that if salt loses its saltiness it becomes worthless. Once salt loses its saltiness, it cannot get it back.

"You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet." -Matthew 5:13

My hope is that you will never lose the saltiness you carry, that you will always walk as the light you were born to be. There is so much in you that the world needs! You are so needed and you are enough.

If you keep reading Matthew chapter 5, the story continues by talking about being a light shining for all to see.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16

My prayer for all of you is that you will continue to grow your light and that you will never let it be extinguished. In case no one has told you, you are loved, cherished and needed. You are worthy, a child of God and you will always be enough!

"The Bible says that Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. On the job, in the grocery store, even among unsaved friends and family members, God’s people are there to bring seasoning to an unsavory situation.” — Joyce Meyer

I hope if nothing else you remember that you are the salt of the earth and you are always enough! Life is messy and hard at times, but as long as God is center in your life you have everything you could ever need. Remember you have a uniqueness that only God could give.

Have a great week and remember you're enough and you always will be.

Much love,

Alianna C.
