Then I heard the words, "Peace be still" whispered to my heart. Life has been kind of crazy lately for my family and I, and more often than not I find myself struggling to find a moment of rest within this crazy, busy life. The other day my family and I where able to take some time to slow down and destress and I was reminded of Mark chapter 4 verses 35-41, If your not familiar with this passage I would strongly recommend you read it. In this passage Jesus calms the storm just by speaking three simple words - Peace, be still.
Verse 39 tells us, "When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Peace! Be still!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm". All it took was those three words and the storm ceased to exist. This story is such a great example of the power and might of our great God! As I was standing on the beach looking out at the sunset as it slowly changed the sky into a breathtaking canvas before my eyes I felt those same words whispered to my spirit, it was as if God was reminding me that no matter what is going on or how busy life may get He will give me peace and rest.
It was such a beautiful reminder of just how much we are loved by our creator and just how good He is! If there was one thing I could leave you with that you would never forget it would be to remember that God will be the rest and peace you need no matter what may be going on in your life at any given time. Peace, be still and know that He is God. Remember that He is always with you and that He will never leave you.
I love what Psalms 116:7 says, "Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me". In this crazy season of life, I know it can be hard to remember to take the time to rest in the presence of God, but I want to challenge you to set aside time today and everyday to rest in the presence of God. Rest in the peace that only God can give us. Rest simply in the goodness of our God!
Peace, be still... no matter what is going on remember that He is always right there with you and that He loves you more than you will ever know!
As always remember you have a God-given uniqueness!
Shalom ~ Alianna
