Made Present

I don't know about you guys, but I know for me it can be so easy to allow everything going on around me to effect how I'm doing in that given moment. I get so focused on what just happened or what I think might happen that I forget to be present in the here and now. Matthew 6 speaks to this concept,

"Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Matt. 6:26-29

I think this is a beautiful reminder not to worry about anything, each day brings there own worries. Nothing good will ever come from living in constant worry, the chapter continues;

"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matt. 6:30-33

Can we just take a moment to think about this passage? God cares so much for the flowers that He knows each petal and every stem. If He cares that much for the flowers and the birds, don't you think He cares even more for you?! It reminds me of a song, the lyrics remind us; 'if He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor, how much more will He clothe you. If watches over every sparrow, how much more does He love you'. WOW! What a beautiful picture of the love and grace of God!

I want you to pay close attention to this next verse. Allow it to act as a guide of sorts as you walk out your day to day,

"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matt. 6:34

Each day has its own worries, so it is so important that we place our focus on the things of God and allow Him to be the center of everything we do. Don't get me wrong I know this is a lot easier said than done more often than not, but I promise it is so worth it.

Now I know that was a lot of scripture to digest, but we're not done yet. There are numerous examples within scripture that talk to the concept of being present and not allowing worry about the unknowns and the future to impact the present.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

We don't need to worry about what the future holds, God already has a a future marked out for you that is greater than anything you could even begin to imagine. I can hardly wrap my mind around it, we could never begin to earn the grace and love He continually pours out on us. I think that's what makes it so beautiful. Its underserved, but freely given!

Paul in Romans reminds us,

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2

You were created for so much more than the day to day, hustle and bustle of this life. God has an amazing plan and a bright future marked out for you and He loves you more than you can imagine.

Much Love friends,

Alianna
