Gentle... The word Gentle according to Merriam Webster dictionary means:free from harshness, sternness, or violence. When I was young my dad used to tell me to be gentle and bold. I know it sounds strange, I mean how can you be gentle yet still be bold? It's possible because being gentle does not mean you do not stand up for what you believe, it simply means you show kindness, love and respect to those around you.
As I mentioned last week, I want people to remember me as someone who lived a life of unwavering grace and a zeal for the things of God unlike anything they have ever seen. Along with that I want people to remember me as someone who lived gently. I pray that when others think of me they think of me as gentle and kind and I pray the same for all of you!
Scripture tells us, "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" (Colossians 3:12). We have been called to live lives of gentleness, humility, compassion and kindness. Along with all of those traits, we have also been called to share the gospel with all people everywhere.
My challenge for you this week is to live gentle and be compassionate to those around you.
1 Peter 3:4 tells us, "Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight".
As always remember you have a God-given uniqueness!
Shalom ~ Alianna
