Dare to Hope

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

I have been reading through Lamentations over the last few days and I found myself coming back to a passage in chapter 3 numerous times. If you've ever read through Lamentations than you know it can be a hard book to read through, as it is for all intents and purposes a lament/cry of sorrow. Something that I began to realize as I was reading this week was the challenge the author gives in chapter 3.

In the midst of this heavy lament, the author reminds himself of the faithful love of our God. He challenges himself to dare to hope, to remember the unending mercies and faithfulness of our God. You know what let's read it together,

"Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: the faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" - Lamentations 3:21-24

I love that the author starts this passage by saying "yet I still dare to hope", yes, I know this is happening around me. Yes, I know life seems to be falling apart around me. Yes, I know the world is chaotic and loud. Yes, I know life feels a little upside down at the moment. Even with all that's going on I will still dare to hope. I will cling to your Word and hold fast to what is true that my God will never abandon His people.

Our God is a just and faithful God friends! His promises are yes and amen! It doesn't matter what may be going on around you, hold fast to what is true and remember you are a child of the most high. Royalty runs through your veins, you are a joint heir with Christ and that means something! Your life is dripping with purpose and destiny.

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

The passage in Lamentation continues further with the author reminding himself of the goodness of our God. Reminding us that the Lord will never abandon His people. He is with us always and His love will never fail.

"The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for Him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord." - Lamentations 3:25-26

I know it can be hard to see the goodness of God in those desperate and dark moments of life, but I promise you He is still there and He is still faithful. I love what verses 31 and 32 say,

"For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love." - Lamentations 3:31-32

No matter what life has to throw at us, we can be confident in the unwavering love and faithfulness of our God. His love will never fail and His mercies are new every morning! Friend, please know just how loved you are. You are worth more than pearls and rubies and the finest gold and silver. You are a child of God, joint-heir with Christ.

Much Love Friends,

Alianna
