I don't know about you, but I love coffee. I love the smell, the taste, the environment of a coffee shop, I love it all. I recently read a study that talked about the health benefits of drinking a few cups of coffee (or tea for some) a day and how it can have a lasting beneficial impact on the human body. The study mentioned that there are antioxidants found within coffee that positively impact the bodies function, it can also help to lessen feelings of depression. On top of all of that it provides a boost of energy to help keep you going on those days that seem to never end and it tastes great!
Don't worry I'm not going to talk about coffee this whole post as tempting as that sounds. I really want to take some time to talk about the Holy Spirit. All throughout the Bible we see mention of the Holy Spirit, from the story of creation to the last chapter of Revelation the Holy Spirit plays a vital role within not only scripture, but daily life. In Genesis 1, we see the first mention of the Holy Spirit.
"The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters." - Genesis 1:2
The Holy Spirit was there at the beginning during the creation of the world and He is still with us today. Within the Old Testament, when the Holy Spirit is mentioned it is often presented through the prophets. On the other hand throughout the New Testament it is mentioned numerous times as being a central part of daily life for believers. In the book of John, Jesus mentions that He is leaving, so that the comforter/Holy Spirit may come. I encourage you to read John 14 for the full passage.
"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you." -John 14:16-17
Earlier I mentioned that coffee can provide a boost to get you through the day. That caffeine the cup of coffee provides gives a kick of energy that can help us keep going and for some start our day off on a positive note. The Holy Spirit does something similar. The Holy Spirit rejuvenates the spirit and provides clarity and can help establish order within chaos.
What a incredible thought! When we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and allow Him to work in and through us, not only does it rejuvenate the soul and bring order to the chaos of life it allows us to see the world from an entirely different perspective. I'll leave you with one final quote, and please take this one to heart and let it really sink in.
"I don't want the world to define God for me. I want the Holy Spirit to reveal God to me." - A.W. Tozer
No matter what life throws your way this week remember you are enough and God is walking right there with you through it all. You are a history-shacking world-changer and so loved!
Much Love,
Alianna C.
